
Cassandra O'Brien
Teaching
Cassandra has years of experience teaching students with a wide range of skill levels, experiences, and interests. Cassandra is currently the adjunct clarinet professor at Saginaw Valley State University, where she helps apsiring music educators and performers hone their musical and clarinetistic skills. She teaches clarinet, saxophone, and flute at Expressions Music Academy. Cassandra even teaches very young children general music classes at Expressions Music Academy! Additionally, she presents clinics and masterclasses in the area and beyond, recently presenting about Orchestration for Clarinet at Bradley University in Illinois. She is currently the Band Director and Chamber music teacher for Oakland Homeschool Music Inc.
Her cumulative 4 years of assistantships between the University of Akron and Michigan State University have given her many opportunities to teach a wide variety of students, all with varying skill-sets, needs, and goals. She has given masterclasses and lectures, led sectionals, and taught classes about technique and how to teach clarinet.
